My First Steps in Astrophotography

Everybody has to start at some point in time and you can see here under my first steps into astrophotography.
Those pictures were taken during 2014 and begining of 2015 either with a Williams Optics FLT-132 mounted on a EQ-6 mount that I'd borrowed from my friend Jean-Marie Locchi or my Meade LX850.

NGC 104 - 47 Tucanae

This great southern globular cluster was one of my first visual target back the '80s, so I'd also made it one of my first astrophotography ones.
It lies in the constellation Tucana at about 14,700 light-years from Earth and can be seen with the naked eye.
It is the second brightest globular cluster in the sky, having a very bright and dense core containing millons of stars.
This image has been processed with StarTools.

IC 434 - Horsehead & Flame Nebulas

Also known as Barnard 33, IC 434 is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion, the nebula is part of the large Orion Molecular Cloud complex .  It is located about 1,500 light-years from Earth.
Also part of the Orion Cloud, NGC 2024 or the Flame nebula is an emission nebula that shines energetic in ultraviolet light.

NGC 1097

A prominent member of the Fornax-Eridanus cloud of galaxies, NGC 1097 is a fantastic example of Seyfert galaxy.
NGC 1097 is a barred spiral galaxy about 45 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax.

Comet Lovejoy

Just an attemp to get this magnificent visitor from the outer bounds of our Solar system.

NGC 55

NGC 55 is a Magellanic type barred spiral galaxy located about 7 million ligth-years away in the constellation Sculptor.  Along with NGC 300, it is one of the closest galaxies to the Local Group.
This is my first image processed with Photoshop.

Earth and Universe

This image was taken in Gingin observatory as final practice after an astrophotography course I took with Richard Tonello from AES.
It shows a portion of the Milky Way, one of the 'dots' is actually Jupiter.
I entered this image in the Inpex Enviroment Day Photo Contest, and it was rewarded with the 3rd prize !!!.
