Hello, I'm Fabian Rodriguez Frustaglia.
Welcome to my astrophotography website !!!
My passion for astronomy goes back to my childhood, at the age of 9, the first thing I bought in my life was a "telescope".
That scope was a 2" refractor mounted in a wooden tripod... I started to understand the mechanics of the skies having a look at the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and the fascinating Saturn.
During my teen ages, I learnt about the constellations and deep sky objects, being able to locate some of them from high polluted skies in Ramos Mejia, Argentina.
My interest in astronomy was so big that I was ready to start a serious Astronomy career at University. But, I changed my mind at the very last minute and decided to keep it as a hobby.
At mid-twenties, I joint the Asociacion Argentina Amigos de la Astronomia where I was able to improve my knowledge and to build up an 8" reflector from head to toes under the direction of my friend Rodolfo.
It was at that time with Rodolfo and Ricardo that we started an astrophotography adventure with reflex cameras and film !! Yes, we were still in the early '90s.
I bought my third scope by then, a Meade LX50 10" f/10, that was my first Go To machine. I had enjoyed that telescope for several years, and I still keep it.
When I arrived to Perth, Australia in 2012 and after knowing that this city counts with 200+ clear nights per year, I decided this was the right place and the right time to start astrophotography.
My friend Jean-Marie gently gave me his William Optics FLT-132 to use with my SBIG STF-8300C will awaiting the arrival of the new Meade LX850 12" f/8.
When the LX850 finally arrived I was almost on my own, the learning curve for astrophotography is very steep, especially for processing; that is when my friend Bruce entered the scene to drive me through the mysteries of Photoshop.
I would like to thank the people that supports and helps me in this fascinating hobby: first my wife Cynthia Mallo, for keeping the family dynamics alive while I'm under the stars; Rodolfo Caprio and Ricardo Chitaro for all the astronomical adventures we shared in the early days and finally to Bruce Pipes and Jean-Marie Locci for their strong support and push into Astrophotography.
If you want to know a little more about me, please take a moment to read the interview from Barbara Snyman: Fabian - The Start Gazer.
Now, please enter my site and I let me have the opportunity to share my work with you...
